I landed at Tashkent airport after my 12-hour flight from New York. It was a Friday and I was extremely jet-lagged. I completed the immigration process, booked a cab, and went straight to my hotel, Hotel Uzbekistan. It was about noon, and the check-in did not start till 2 pm so I had a couple of hours more before I could lay down on a cozy bed.

I changed into something comfortable, took my tripod, and went out to click some photos and explore the area nearby. My first stop was the Amir Temur Square located opposite the hotel. The square was covered in snow and the locals were playing snow fight which I joined and had some fun. The square has the famous statue of Amir Temur on his horse and the background of Hotel Uzbekistan provides a really good photo booth.

I then proceeded towards the food and party street called Broadway, situated right in front of the Amir Temur Square. I found some vegetarian food and had that, already feeling full after my breakfast of Pasta on the airline. I walked around a bit more and saw some pretty cool buildings including The Museum of Temurids. I then went to the local supermarket, Korzinka to buy some groceries because I knew that due to my jetlag, I had a long night in front of me. Soon, it was 1:45 pm and I started walking towards my hotel to finally check in and catch on some sleep.

I checked into my room, which was technically half the room because it was a single room, with one single bed. I had requested a top floor and got the room on the topmost floor of the hotel and I was mesmerized with the view from my balcony. I changed and then went to bed for a short nap.

I woke up a couple of hours later and then got dressed again to go out. I realized that my phone screen was broken and the pixels were starting to get damaged. In a hurry, I changed my plans and instead went to the electronic market of Tashkent. My first sightseeing of the trip was the electronic market. I searched through ten different shops in the hope of finding a repair person, but no one was able to repair my phone. The cause for it was that I was carrying a Pixel, and Google does not sell these phones in Uzbekistan. At that moment I decided to buy a new, cheap temporary phone and went to an electronic store to find their cheapest phone which has a camera. I bought a new phone was $140 and wrote off this loss from my budget :(. I was very tired from all this shopping and extra stress on the first day I went to a supermarket and bought some biscuits, chocolates, and Uzbekistan's famous bread for dinner and went straight to my hotel room. I had my dinner of bread and biscuits and went to bed at 8:30 pm only to wake up again at 3 am due to surprise, surprise... jetlag.
